And have Fun

At Halo Nursery we teach through fun. Everything at Halo has to be fun, all our little Halo’s need to enjoy learning whilst having fun. At Halo Nursery we bring fun to everything.

A Place to Grow

At Halo Nursery, we believe children are full of amazing potential, with that we give our little Halo’s the tools they need to make the most of it, this is something the Halo team take very seriously.

The Halo aim is to help your child develop physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally – helping to prepare them for their future at preschool and beyond. At Halo we understand that each and every child needs a happy, healthy environment for learning, playing and having fun.

Children at Halo Nursery benefit immensely from the rich, stimulating environment and the wealth of learning opportunities that are available to them. The government's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the framework that Halo Nursery follows to provide that assurance.

The curriculum and activities are based around 'Every Child Matters' principles – keeping children safe and healthy, helping them enjoy and achieve, and encouraging them to make a positive contribution as they grow.

Room organisation ensures that all children have plenty of time to play, learn and most importantly have fun. There are separate play areas in which to commence their nursery experience. Short 'settling in' sessions are offered to ensure that your child is completely happy in their new surroundings before attending a full session.

Halo Care approach

The Halo board of Directors are proud of our happy, professional team of nursery practitioners, all of whom have been chosen for their ability and commitment to care for and nurture our little Halo’s.

Each Halo team member is appropriately qualified and experienced, and the nursery actively encourages further staff training and development. The Halo team are fully vetted and are trained, or are working towards NVQ Child Care level 3 or 5 towards nursery management.

At Halo Nursery we promote regular training on First Aid, Child Protection and Food Hygiene. Every team member is encouraged to extend, improve and update their training and qualifications and keep up to date with developments and good practice in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

Our carer-to-child ratios meet the requirements of Ofsted and we ensure our staff have time to provide the attention each child needs.

Halo Parent Partnership

The board of Directors at Halo Nursery would like to invite parents to join us at board level so they play an active part in creating the future for our little Halo’s.

Parents are a vital part of our team and we believe building a mutually trusting, supportive relationship with you. This we believe makes a real difference to your child’s development and wellbeing.

The Halo team will promote a happy and harmonious relationship with both children and parents as we recognise that the best childcare is achieved through close co-operation with the family. A successful partnership with parents is based on the exchange of information, knowledge and expertise. When a little Halo joins us, they are allocated a key person who becomes their primary carer whilst at Halo Nursery, and with whom they and their family will build a secure relationship.

We’re flexible on the sessions your little Halo attends – mornings, afternoons, all day – whatever works for each parent. Access to your child’s learning journey is encouraged at any time.

We are in the process of developing an app so that each parent can receive regular updates via our secure app. The app will keep you updated on all the matters surrounding your child’s time at Halo Nursery.

The Halo team (including the board of Directors) are always here to listen to your comments, sharing our insights and learning from yours.

Nurturing Through Nature

At Halo Nursery we believe our little Halo’s will learn best through nature. Our naturing through nature allows little Halo’s an even greater opportunity for outdoor learning experiences. Our nature learning offers a range of activities to ignite creativity and critical thinking skills, in addition to the sheer pleasure and enjoyment of being in the great outdoors!

 Halo Philosophy:

If we want our little Halo’s to protect our planet for future generations, they first need to learn how to love it.

At Halo Nursery our little Halo’s will have constant opportunities to engage with the outdoor environment, inspiring a love of nature and supporting their learning and development in all areas of the great outside world. In the great outdoors our little Halo’s can expand their knowledge and understanding, increase their vocabulary, strengthen their physical skills, improve their concentration and problem-solving skills.

The freedom, excitement and sense of adventure that being outdoors provides, will enable our little Halo’s to discover new things about themselves and their world.

With all our nurseries, we have the outside space that’s needed for each of our Halo to express themselves. At Halo Nursery we want a child to be a child, make a mess, get dirty, last but not least, play in the outside world, learn something new and most importantly have fun!

Nature Trips:

Our little Halo’s will be offered a wide variety of experiences in nature, from the countryside to the coast. These include trips to woodlands, local farms, parklands, forests and beaches.

In an outdoor environment a child can explore and discover a world they dream of.

Animals:

At each Halo Nursery Unit there will be a nursery pet. Our programme involving pets will encourage nurturing and responsibility. Our nursery pet will allow our little Halo’s to observe the pet, feed the pet and watch our pets grow and take residency in our nursery.

In the Spring, we organise trips to farms to watch chicks hatching from eggs. We also observe the metamorphosis of tadpoles and caterpillars into frogs and butterflies, before returning them to their natural environment.

Growing Our Own:

As with our menu, all our food will be organic and fresh. Our daily fruit supplier will supply fresh fruits and speak to our little Halo’s about organic gardens. At Halo Nursery we will grow seasonal vegetables and a wide selection of herbs. At Halo we believe gardening will cultivate a child’s practical skills and physical development, as they gain competence using gardening tools.

Our little Halo’s will maintain the vegetable plots themselves; planting, watering and harvesting the crops. The fresh seasonal produce will be used by our little Halo’s in their baking, or taken to the kitchen to be included in their freshly prepared meals.

Giving our little Halo’s the opportunity to grow their own food will allow them to make the connection between what they eat and where it comes from. Our seasonal plant beds enables the children to learn about life cycles; growth, decay and regrowth.

Our Menus

At Halo Nursery we have partners who cook all our meals. Healthy food cooked with love for our little Halo’s helps make them strong and healthy and gives them the energy for the day ahead.

At Halo Nursery we value the diet consumed by children and focus on following nutritional guidelines and supplying balanced meals with vegetables, proteins, grains, and dairy. We ensure our little Halo’s get the very best and deliciously nutritious meals and for this reason, all our meals are supplied daily by a leading UK catering company and experts in nursery food and nutrition “The Professional Nursery Kitchen”.

The Professional Nursery Kitchen operate in compliance with the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulation 2013. They have also been approved under EC Regulations 853/2004 and listed on the Food Standards Agency website.

They say:

“We believe nursery food matters. As the UK’s leading nursery provider, we’ve perfected the art of preparing fresh, home cooked food that is appealing to little ones but is also varied, nutritious and excellent value for money.

The Professional Nursery Kitchen promise

  • Your children eat real food, prepared from scratch and cooked on the day of delivery

  • Our menus are developed with our in-house Nutritionist, to ensure they meet recommended nutrients targets for pre-school children (including salt and NME sugars)

  • Our menus have been independently reviewed and approved by the Children’s Food Trust, in line with their National Best Practice Guidelines

  • We adapt our meals for a range of food allergies and intolerances, plus cultural and ethical requirements

  • We are committed to ensuring the highest standards of food safety, food quality and food hygiene

Nutritious foods help produce healthy, happy children and we believe that the quality of the food we serve plays a Cristal part in our ethos of play, learn and have fun. If the quality of food is poor then no child would want to play, learn nor have fun as they did not enjoy their meal.

Children are provided with a hot lunch and mid-morning as well as afternoon snacks designed to meet their nutritional needs.

We provide a healthy snack at approximately 10:00hrs. Hot lunch is served from 12.00hrs. This is followed by an afternoon snack and Tea served from 16.00 hrs.

Menus are varied from week to week to ensure that the children are not bored with the food choices. They are updated regularly on our website and parents are made aware of our menu.

If your child has allergies to any of our menus, we advise that the parents will be required to supply meals and snacks.

The management team at Halo Nursery may also ask parents to prepare a packed lunch for their child on special occasions such as picnics or trips.

Parent Committee:

At Halo Nursery the Board of Director’s alongside our nursery managers will set up a parent committee for each of our nurseries.

Research shows clear benefits for children when parents become actively involved in their child’s learning and developing. Volunteering for the committee offers an ideal opportunity to be more involved. Parents also find benefits for themselves including meeting other parents, updating skills and learning new ones, as well as putting something back into the local community.

At Halo Nursery we pride ourselves in transparency and believe that a friendly working relationships with parents is needed to make our little Halo’s succeed. Due to the homely environment feel in our bespoke nursery settings we believe in creating a strong bond between our staffing team and our parents.

We firmly believe that close co-operation and strong relationships with our parents has a profound effect on the service we offer. One of the benefits of being a small nursery is to ensure nursery life is a friendly, homely environment, and a more personal service to each family.

Halo Nursery parent committee will form of a small group of our parents, and will be focused on working in partnership with the Management committee with the vision of Halo Nursery.

The nursery management team will offer parents to participate in the committee. The Directors at Halo Nursery solely believe in the key person system, where a key person is assigned to the child and their parents. Parents and staff are encouraged to communicate actively. Parents will be invited to the annual parent consultations and receive developmental reports.

Parent Committee will meet one evening roughly every two months with the aim of finding ways to enhance their children’s nursery experience. Areas the committee will look at are; parents involvement in nursery events, helping to promote the nursery to new parents as well as providing parents with a direct link for feedback to the Management Committee.

If you wish to contribute to nursery decisions, please join our parent-led committee. If you would like to know more about the committee, please email Shabnaz Rahman, Director/ Nursery Manager on haggerstonmgr@halonursery.co.uk. We are a really friendly group, and welcome new members.
